Victoria Jarreau, RN
Assistant Director of Nursing
Baton Rouge, LA
Victoria is born and raised from Baton Rouge, LA. She moved to Prairieville, LA where she resided for 22 years until she met her fiancé and moved back to her hometown. She attended LSU from 1987-1988 in pre-nursing and then transferred to Our Lady of the Lake College in 1993 to continue her nursing studies. She graduated in May 1998 with an Associates Degree in Nursing. Victoria has worked in many areas of nursing including Cardiology, Oncology/Hematology, urgent care, quality nursing and home-health.
With working in all of these areas, she needed a change of scenery. Victoria decides to reach out and gets a message from the Director of Nursing at the Plaquemine Office. When she read this message, she had a feeling that told her to just “do it”. She took a leap of faith, applied, and became a part of the Bridgeway Team! She first started as a RN in the field. From there, Victoria was promoted to be the Assistant Director of Nursing.
Her new role allows her to back up and assist the Director of Nursing with administrative and clinical tasks. She regularly collaborates with other members of the clinical team including chaplains, social workers, doctors, volunteers, nurses, certified nursing aides and other amazing office staff that help make this organization run like a well-oiled machine. I am one of three in this position and we all work together to ensure to most amazing patient care to live up to Bridgeway's famous quote, "CREATING MOMENTS THAT MATTER".
"Working at Bridgeway Hospice has renewed in me a sense of belonging. I’ve had some very raw experiences in the past that made me want to leave nursing. Working at Bridgeway completely renewed in me WHY I am a nurse. I fell in love again with nursing and patient care. I remembered why I chose to be a nurse. The people I see every day, the positive work ethics, the wonderful happy personalities and watching others with that same sense of compassion for the terminally ill…this is what it’s all about! I am proud to say I am a part of this amazing team."
